The 49-year-old will be released under supervision until June 21, according to the parole board’s decision today.
Miller served his three-year non-parole period after being arrested in February 2021.
His request for early release last year was denied because he was not convicted of new drug supply charges brought against him.
Those charges were finalized last month, allowing Miller to apply for parole.
Community corrections recommended his supervised release, saying he has a low to moderate risk of reoffending.
“Mr. Miller has a long history of substance abuse and appears to exhibit some insight into this problem behavior,” the Community Corrections report said.
Miller was released on the condition that he not take illegal drugs or contact his former associates without the approval of his parole officer.
He has pursued higher education in custody and plans to complete his studies upon release.
Miller will be free on parole, unless revoked, until August 15, 2027.
The former swimmer and butterfly star won silver at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
In 2022, he was convicted of supplying about $2 million worth of methamphetamine, a commercial amount of heroin, and participating in a criminal gang.
