A 30-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly threatening two people with a knife at a shopping center in Melbourne in the west today.
Detectives believe the man stole a knife from a grocery store before brandishing it at Watergardens Shopping Center in Taylors Lakes at around 12.50pm.
Police say the man used the knife to attack and threaten a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman.
Tony told Nine radio’s 3AW Afternoons that a fight broke out between two men shortly before police arrived.
“There was a fight in the middle of the mall,” he said.
“Two people were fighting each other and it looked like one of them pulled out a weapon, I’m not sure, it could be a knife.”
Tony said multiple people, including people working at a nearby barbershop, intervened and tackled the men.
A 30-year-old man from Sunny Beach has been arrested and is assisting the police.
